Who doesn’t want to save money on groceries? Perhaps in your research, you’ve already found a few ways to meal plan. But there’s one additional step you can take: downloading an app that’ll help cut costs on the grocery items itself.

Enter the Fetch Rewards app. This free app helps you earn rewards points by scanning receipts which you can redeem for different types of rewards. Whether you’re buying groceries for yourself or for a family of six, keep reading to see whether it’s worth your time to use it.

How is Fetch Rewards Different from All the Apps Out There?

Before we talk about the major differences, let’s talk about what Fetch Rewards is. In essence, it’s a free mobile app available on both Android and iOS. Once you purchase your groceries, you can scan your receipts to earn points that you can redeem for gift cards (more on this later).

The types of rewards points you can earn vary depending on the product, but there are plenty of opportunities to do so, even on products from the baking, beauty, breakfast, personal care and snack aisles in your local grocery store.

Much like other grocery apps, you can go to essentially any store that sells grocery items — think discount stores, supermarkets and wholesale clubs. You can also track your online grocery receipts and Amazon orders. Unlike other apps, there aren’t discounts or rewards opportunities for generic items or fresh produce but there are lots of ways to earn them for qualifying name brands.

Now onto what makes Fetch Rewards different. The cool thing about this app is that you don’t have to activate every offer you qualify for before scanning your receipt, saving you time. You don’t even have to do things like watch short videos or take a short survey too.

Plus, you don’t have to sort through offers for different stores unlike other apps — participating items are the same no matter where you shop. There are also non-grocery items you can earn rewards for such as when you go to qualifying local and online stores.

Then there are coupons. You can use them to increase the amount you save, whether you use digital or paper coupons.

How Does the Fetch Rewards App Work?

Fetch Rewards is simple to use. You’ll need to download the app and then follow the prompts to register for a free account. Don’t forget to use the Fetch Rewards referral code APREWARDS to redeem 3,000 points (equivalent to $3).

Once you sign up, here’s how it works:

Scan receipts

Once you have a receipt with qualifying purchases, open up the app, choose scan, then the camera icon. You’ll be led through a series of prompts to take a photo of the receipt. In some cases, you may have to take a few photos if it’s a long one to ensure you’ve captured the whole thing.

Once complete it’ll be processed in real-time so you know how much you’ve earned within seconds. You can scan up to 14 receipts every seven days. For each qualifying receipt, you have up to 14 days to scan it to earn rewards.

Earning points

As mentioned above, the main way you can earn points is by making purchases of qualifying products. You can scan through the app to see what offers are available, including certain special offers. In most cases, qualifying products are household items you’ll commonly see. They’re typically from big brands like Betty Crocker, Kraft, Oscar Meyer and Tropicana.

It’s a good deal (aka go download and use the Fetch Rewards app)  if you usually shop from participating brands frequently. The app has more than 230 brands it works with and it’s constantly growing, so check to see what’s available — there are also brands featuring beer and wine. Each item is worth around 25 points, though there are ones that can be worth much more.

How to Use the Fetch Rewards App to Maximize Your Earnings

Yes, there are ways to earn even more points!

First, the best way to maximize your grocery trips is to ensure you’re purchasing items from participating retailers. Meaning, if you’re willing to be more flexible with the brands you buy for certain items you can earn more points with each receipt.

Since Fetch Rewards offers suggestions of product recommendations or brand alternatives, you can see if any of them are relevant to your next shopping trip. The cool thing is that you can create a shopping list with the app so there are even more ways to earn points from additional product recommendations.

The app also has special offers where you can earn more points for a specified amount of time. Some of these items can earn you anywhere from 500 to 10,000 points — think about how much money that is!

Referring friends to use Fetch Rewards can earn you 2,000 for each person that scans their first receipt.

How to Use Points on Fetch Rewards

Once you’ve earned 3,000 points, you can cash out — $1 equals 1,000 points. Since you already get 3,000 points using the referral code APREWARDS, you can cash out right away or wait until you scan your first receipt.

You can choose between different types of gift cards, including popular choices like Amazon, Walmart and Target. There are also Visa and Mastercard gift cards so you can use them at any participating retailer.

Is it Worth Signing up for Fetch Rewards?

Fetch Rewards is simple to use and doesn’t require as much time as some of their competitors which limits you to the store and may require you to complete a short survey or watch a video. Users can also receive points within days and you can cash out at a lower threshold than similar apps. That means you don’t have to wait a long time in order to get your gift card of choice.

That being said, you won’t earn hundreds of dollars but a few dollars here and there really adds up. Considering how much groceries cost, it’s not a bad idea to at least check out Fetch Rewards, give it a go and see how much it can save you. At the very least, use the referral code APREWARDS to redeem 3,000 points, equivalent to $3.

I have now read multiple so called reviews on this Fetch app and s couple things I wanted to say . #1 is that I have yet to find the same info repeated in any of these reviews. And that’s odd because they are all clearly worded in a way a company would do as to promote themselves. Rather then in the real honest words if the person writing the review . #2 They are not saving you anything! As it takes points to redeem for items and those points are from items you buy which cost you money. So you gave to spend money to get a gift card, thus in no way are they free by any stretch if the imagination. Also from what I can gather, be aise again the info and numbers have not been the same. BUT 1000 points are equal to $1 dollar so a $3 dollar gift card would cost you 3000 points. Yet on average if you buy a promoted item from a certain brand if it cost you $3 bucks you would get 30 points. That works out to be only 10 points for every dollar you spend thus meaning you would need to spend $300 bucks to get the 3000 points you need to get a $3 dollar gift card. So that is not saving anyone jack!!! On top of that in the $3 dollar gift cards if they are from popular places like target Amazon Starbucks Walmart etc they would cost an extra 500 points so you would need to spend $350 bucks to get the 3500 points to get a $3 dollar gift card. And again that’s on participating brands I’m not sure what amount if points you get on non participating brand items . Also you get no points for fresh produce or store brands so you most likely would spend more money on the name brand stuff because you don’t get anything for store brands that are offten the same thing but much cheeper in price.Generally just items made by the big name companies that are higher in price. So in the end how bout not trying to spend $300 plus dollars just to get a $3 dollar gift card in return, that would be saving people money !!!
